It's OK to be ordinary!

Today I was thinking that it’s okay to be ordinary.
Often, we strive to be a person that we are not. Or we try to be like that certain person who seems so much more successful than we are. We want to be a hero so to speak.
But I just want us to think about the fact that we might already be someone’s “hero” just for the little ordinary things we do. For the smile that we give them, for the bright and cheery, “hello”. Maybe it’s for the $2.00 we offer at the checkout line because someone ran a little short, or it’s for the card that we sent someone.
We don’t have to feel bad because we don’t feel like a super hero, who’s reaching thousands of people, changing their lives. There are so many ways that we can just be our ordinary selves, and be a ray of sunshine in people’s everyday lives. Maybe we can work on just enriching the lives of those we connect with, or those who pass through our lives briefly.
It’s OK to be ordinary, and in our ordinariness, we are one of a kind. No one is us. We can be genuine and change our little part of the world and make it better in very simple little ways. That smile, those well wishes, holding the door, stopping to chat with someone who’s lonely, those little ordinary daily things that make the quality of our lives better and also enhance the lives of those we interact with.
